Hit your two daily rules more than any other member this month and CalCut pays you A$1,000.
Version 1.0 · Last updated 18 October 2026 · Applies to every Competition Month from November 2026
The full Terms below are what count.
1.1This competition, The CalCut Monthly ("the Monthly"), is conducted by CalCut Pty Ltd (ACN 697 215 660, ABN 57 697 215 660) of Tarneit, Victoria 3029, Australia ("CalCut", "we", "us"). CalCut is the sole promoter and sponsor of the Monthly.
1.2Contact for all Monthly matters: support@calcut.com.au.
1.3By entering, you accept these Terms in full. If you don't agree with them, don't enter. You can use every other part of the CalCut app without entering.
1.4Apple Inc. is not a sponsor of the Monthly and is not involved in it in any manner. These Terms are presented inside the CalCut app for the duration of the Monthly and are also available at https://calcut.com.au/monthly-terms.html.
1.5The Monthly is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. Entrants release Instagram and Meta Platforms, Inc. in full.
2.1The Monthly is a competition of skill and effort. Each calendar month, the entrant who scores the most points for hitting CalCut's two daily rules wins. The winner is determined entirely by the points recorded in the app under section 8. Nothing is drawn, no winner is selected at random, and there is no element of chance in deciding who wins. The Monthly is not a lottery, sweepstake, raffle or game of chance. There are no odds: the number of entrants in a month does not affect how the winner is decided.
2.2If two or more entrants finish a month on exactly the same number of points, the prize for that month is divided equally between them. No tie-break, draw or judging is used.
2.3One prize of AUD $1,000 is paid each month, to one member (or shared equally between tied winners under clause 2.2). Entering does not entitle any other entrant to any payment.
2.4Points are awarded for hitting your daily calorie and step rules, not for losing weight. Your weight is never scored, compared or published in the Monthly. "Pays you to lose weight" describes what following the two rules does; the competition itself rewards hitting the rules.
2.5There is no entry fee, no stake and no deposit. The only cost of taking part is the ordinary retail price of a CalCut subscription (section 6), which is the same whether or not you enter. No part of your subscription price is a payment for the opportunity to compete or to win.
2.6Payment of the prize is made by CalCut directly to the winner. No payment is made through the App Store or through the app.
3.1You may enter if, at the time you enter and at the close of the month you are competing in, you:
(a)are aged 18 years or over;
(b)are a resident of one of the following, and your App Store account is set to that country's storefront:
(i)Australia;
(ii)New Zealand;
(iii)the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland;
(iv)Canada, excluding the province of Quebec; or
(v)the United States of America and the District of Columbia, excluding the states of Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Dakota, Tennessee and Vermont.
Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Residents of any excluded state, province or territory may use the CalCut app but may not enter the Monthly or win any prize;
(c)hold an active CalCut subscription that satisfies section 6;
(d)have entered under section 5 and have not left; and
(e)meet the requirements in clause 3.3.
3.2The following are not eligible to enter or win: employees, contractors and directors of CalCut, and their immediate families; any person engaged by CalCut as a paid creator or ambassador; and any account CalCut has registered as a test, demonstration or complimentary account.
3.3You must not enter if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, currently living with an eating disorder, or have a history of an eating disorder. This exclusion applies to the Monthly only. You remain welcome to use the CalCut app.
3.4If you are under medical supervision, receiving treatment for any condition, or taking medication that affects weight, appetite or physical activity, consult your doctor before entering. CalCut cannot assess whether the Monthly is appropriate for you.
3.5One entry per person. Entering through more than one account, or through another person's account, disqualifies every associated entry. A previous winner may enter and win again.
3.6If CalCut later learns that an entrant did not meet clause 3.1 or 3.2 at the time of entry or at the close, that entrant's entry for the month is void and any prize is withheld or, where it has been paid, recoverable.
4.1Each Competition Month is a calendar month. Days are counted in the local time set on your device, as the app records them. Your month runs from the first to the last day of the calendar month in your local time.
4.2Scoring closes at 12:00 UTC on the second day of the following month ("the Close"). For example, November 2026 closes at 12:00 UTC on 2 December 2026 — 11:00pm Melbourne time, 7:00am New York time, 12:00 noon London time on 2 December.
4.3Steps reach CalCut only when you open the app. Your iPhone counts your steps, and the app reads them when it is opened. Your iPhone keeps only about a week of step history, so open CalCut at least once every 6 days: steps from a day your iPhone no longer holds when you next open the app cannot be scored. To make sure every day of your month is scored, also open CalCut after your last day of the month and before the Close. Step data that first reaches CalCut after the Close is not scored for that month, whatever date it relates to.
4.4Food must be logged in the app on or before the Close to be scored.
4.5Standings shown in the app during a month are provisional. They change as data arrives and are not final until CalCut has completed the review in section 10 after the Close.
4.6Points are scored from the first day of the Competition Month, or from the day you entered if you entered part-way through a month, whichever is later.
4.7Head start. If your CalCut account was created after the first day of a Competition Month, you start that month with a head start of 4 points for each day of the month before the day your account was created (your local time), added when you enter. Your head start is capped so that you start below the entrant in 5th place at the moment you enter. If fewer than five entrants are on the standings when you enter, there is no head start. It is given once per person, only in the month your account was created, and leaving and re-entering does not change it. It is for people new to CalCut: if you have held a CalCut account or subscription before, under any email address, you don't receive one, and a head start given in breach of this clause is removed at the review in section 10.
5.1To enter, in the CalCut app, when first invited after joining as a Pro member or at any later time from Settings:
(a)choose a display name (section 11);
(b)confirm that you are 18 or over and a resident of an eligible country under clause 3.1(b); and
(c)accept these Terms.
5.2Your entry is complete when you have done all three. You stay entered for every following Competition Month until you leave or become ineligible. You do not need to re-enter each month.
5.3The invitation to enter is shown once per account. If you dismiss it, you can enter later from Settings.
5.4Leaving. You may leave the Monthly at any time from Settings. Leaving removes you from the current month's standings and from every public display under section 11, and no points are scored for you for that month. You may re-enter later; re-entry counts from the day you re-enter under clause 4.6. Leaving does not affect your subscription or any other part of the app.
5.5CalCut records the date and time of your entry, the version of these Terms you accepted, your display name, the country you declared, your App Store storefront country, and the targets locked for you under section 7.
6.1To enter and to win you must hold an active CalCut subscription purchased through the App Store — monthly or annual, including the annual plan's free-trial period — charged at its ordinary retail price as shown in the App Store. No premium, surcharge or additional charge of any kind applies because of the Monthly, and nothing in these Terms changes the price, terms or cancellation of any subscription.
6.2Promotional access counts as a subscription for the purposes of the Monthly. Access to the app that CalCut grants without payment — for example a free pass — satisfies clause 6.1 while it is active at the Close, and clause 6.3 applies to it in the same way. The accounts listed in clause 3.2 remain ineligible.
6.3You must hold a subscription under clause 6.1 at the Close of the month you are competing in, and any renewal payment due before the Close must have been successfully charged. A subscription with an unresolved billing failure at the Close does not qualify, even if the app remains unlocked while the payment is retried.
6.4If your subscription lapses, or you are refunded, before the Close, you are not eligible to win that month. You remain entered and become eligible again in the first full month for which clause 6.3 is met.
6.5Subscription pricing, billing, refunds and cancellation are governed by the CalCut Terms of Use and by Apple's terms. Entering the Monthly does not alter those terms and does not entitle you to any refund from CalCut or Apple.
7.1CalCut scores two daily rules: staying at or under your daily calorie target, and meeting or exceeding your daily step goal. For the Monthly, the targets you are scored against are locked as described in this section, so that no entrant can change the rules mid-month.
7.2Calorie target. Your Monthly calorie target is the daily target the app recommends for the pace you have chosen, calculated from your profile and your latest logged weight on or before the first day of the month (or the day you entered, under clause 4.6). It is locked for the whole month. A calorie target you have typed in yourself is not used; if your typed target is higher than the recommended one, you are scored against the recommended one.
7.3Step goal — manual. If you set your own step goal, your Monthly step goal is locked on the first day of the month (or the day you entered) at the higher of 6,000 steps and the goal you have set, taken after any adjustment the app itself makes on that day. Lowering your goal during the month does not lower your Monthly step goal.
7.4Step goal — automatic. If the app sets your step goal for you ("automatic"), you are scored each day against the step goal the app had set for you on that day. The app raises and lowers automatic goals itself and you cannot set them; no minimum applies to them.
7.5Maintain mode. If your account is set to maintain your weight rather than lose it on any day of a month, the calorie rule is not scored for you on that day. The step rule is scored as normal.
7.6The app may adjust your live targets during the month exactly as it does for every member. Those adjustments do not change the locked targets above, and do not affect your eligibility.
7.7If you believe your locked targets are wrong, contact support@calcut.com.au within 7 days of the first day of the month (or of your entry). Requests made later may be declined.
8.1A day counts towards the Monthly only as the app records it. Each day, two rules are assessed against your locked targets:
(a)The step rule is met when the steps the app reads for that day are at or above your Monthly step goal (clause 7.3 or 7.4).
(b)The calorie rule is met when the calories you logged for that day are between 60% and 100% of your Monthly calorie target (both inclusive), from at least two separate food entries. A day with nothing logged, a single entry, or a total below 60% of your target does not meet the calorie rule for the Monthly, even if the app shows that day as under your target.
8.2The 60% floor and the two-entry minimum exist so that a prize cannot be won by logging a fraction of what was eaten. The app uses the same rule to show a Perfect Day for every user.
8.3A "Perfect Day" for the Monthly is a day on which both rules in clause 8.1 are met.
8.4Points per day:
| What you did that day | Monday to Friday | Saturday or Sunday (your local time) |
|---|---|---|
| Met the step rule only | 2 | 4 |
| Met the calorie rule only | 2 | 4 |
| Met both — a Perfect Day | 8 | 16 |
| A Perfect Day that is your third or later in a row (a save day keeps the row going — clause 8.5) | +1 on top of the above | +2 on top of the above |
8.5The streak bonus in clause 8.4 (+1, or +2 on a Saturday or Sunday) is a flat bonus for each Perfect Day that is the third or later in an unbroken run of Perfect Days; it does not grow with the length of the run.
(a)Streak saves. A run of three or more Perfect Days (including a run kept going by an earlier save day) is not broken by one or two missed days in a row (days that are not Perfect Days) if the day straight after them is a save day. A save day is a Perfect Day on which you also meet the challenge set by the most recent missed day:
(i)if on that missed day you logged more calories than your Monthly calorie target: at least 1,500 steps above your Monthly step goal;
(ii)otherwise, if on that missed day you did not meet the step rule: at least 1,000 steps above your Monthly step goal;
(iii)otherwise: at least three separate food entries.
(b)The missed days are scored as normal under clause 8.4. The save day, and each Perfect Day after it in the run, earns the streak bonus.
(c)A save day counts only if it is at least seven days after your previous save day. Saves apply within a month only, from the first day you are scored under clause 4.6.
(d)Save days are worked out automatically from the app's record (clause 8.7). There is nothing to claim.
Apart from the streak bonus kept by a save day, no points are awarded for weight lost, for steps beyond your goal, for eating further below your target, or for anything else, except a head start under clause 4.7. Over-walking and under-eating earn nothing on their own.
8.6Your month score is the sum of your daily points for the days scored under clause 4.6, plus any head start under clause 4.7, as they stand at the Close.
8.7The app's record is the record. Scores are determined solely from data recorded by the CalCut app. No other evidence of diet or activity is considered. Correspondence is entered into only in relation to a clear technical error, reported to support@calcut.com.au within 7 days of the day in question and in any case before the Close.
9.1The winner of a Competition Month is the eligible entrant with the highest month score at the Close. The result is announced in the app under clause 11.1 as a provisional result; it becomes final when the review in section 10 is complete.
9.2Where two or more eligible entrants have exactly the same highest month score, each is a winner and the prize is divided equally between them.
9.3The prize is AUD $1,000 per Competition Month. It is paid in Australian dollars to an Australian account, or converted to the winner's local currency at the exchange rate on the day of payment where the winner is paid outside Australia. CalCut bears all transfer, conversion and payment-platform fees.
9.4The prize is paid by bank transfer, PayPal or Wise, at the winner's election, within 28 days of the winner's claim being verified under section 10.
9.5Claiming. CalCut will notify the winner in the app and by email to the address on their CalCut account within 7 days of the Close. To claim, the winner must reply from that email address within 14 days of the notification with their preferred payment method, the details needed to pay them, and the declaration CalCut asks for. Payment details are never collected inside the app.
9.6Unclaimed prizes. Where, despite reasonable efforts, a winner cannot be contacted, does not claim within 14 days, or is found to be ineligible or disqualified, CalCut may award the prize to the next-ranked eligible entrant, who is then notified and may claim under clause 9.5. This clause constitutes the conditions of entry permitting substitution of a winner.
9.7The prize is not transferable, cannot be taken as subscription credit or in any other form, and cannot be sold or exchanged.
9.8Tax. CalCut does not deduct or withhold tax from the prize. The winner is responsible for any tax liability arising from the prize in their own country. CalCut recommends winners seek independent advice about their own circumstances.
10.1Before any prize is paid, CalCut reviews the records of at least the three highest-scoring entrants for the month: food entries per day, calorie totals against the entrant's profile, and the pattern of step counts. A review is not an accusation. The review is completed before the prize is paid. Until then the result announced in the app is provisional and may be corrected under this section.
10.2CalCut may ask a potential winner for reasonable confirmation that their records reflect genuine intake and activity, and may ask them to confirm their age and country of residence. Declining or not completing a reasonable request means the prize cannot be paid.
10.3CalCut may disqualify an entrant from a month, or from the Monthly, at any time, without payment, where it reasonably believes the entrant has:
(a)logged food, weight or step data that does not reflect their genuine intake, weight or activity, including the use of any device, application or method to generate step counts artificially, or logging in a way designed to score a day that did not reflect the day;
(b)attempted to alter, override or circumvent the targets locked under section 7;
(c)entered through multiple accounts, or through another person's account;
(d)entered, or claimed, while ineligible under section 3 or section 6, or misstated their age or country;
(e)chosen a display name that breaches clause 11.4;
(f)breached these Terms or the CalCut Terms of Use; or
(g)engaged in conduct that CalCut reasonably considers fraudulent, abusive or damaging to CalCut or to other entrants.
10.4Where an entry is ended under this section, CalCut will tell the entrant why. Disqualification forfeits all entitlement to any prize for the month in question and, where CalCut reasonably decides, for future months.
11.1The announcement and the reveal. The provisional result of each month — the frozen standings and the leading eligible entrant — is announced in the CalCut app on the day after the Close. The winner is then revealed on CalCut's Instagram account (@calcut.app), including on a live broadcast, within 7 days of the Close, once the review in section 10 is complete. The reveal is a reveal of the result determined under section 9; nothing is decided during it.
11.2What is published. By entering, you consent to CalCut displaying, in the app to other entrants and on CalCut's Instagram account and website, your display name, your rank and your month score (points and counted days), and — if you win — your display name, your month card and the fact that you won. CalCut does not publish entrants' real names, weights, email addresses, locations or photographs. You can withdraw this consent at any time by leaving the Monthly under clause 5.4, which removes you from every display from that moment; a result already announced is not withdrawn.
11.3Standings in the app. During a month, entrants can see a standings list showing display names and points. Only entrants see it. If you prefer not to appear, leave the Monthly under clause 5.4; there is no way to compete without appearing.
11.4Display names. Your display name is chosen by you when you enter and can be changed in Settings. By default it is your first name and the initial of your last name. It must not be offensive, misleading, impersonate another person, contain contact details, or promote any product or service. CalCut may change or remove a display name that breaches this clause, and may ask you to choose another.
11.5Your month card. Every entrant receives a shareable card at the Close showing their own display name, Perfect Days and points for the month. Sharing it is entirely your choice.
11.6If you win, CalCut may ask for a short statement or a photograph for use in CalCut's marketing. That is optional, requires your separate written consent, and you are free to say no without affecting your prize.
12.1The Monthly rewards staying at or under a calorie target and meeting a daily step goal. You take part at your own risk. You are solely responsible for deciding whether it is safe and appropriate for you, and for seeking medical advice where appropriate.
12.2CalCut is not a medical provider. Nothing in the Monthly, the app or these Terms is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
12.3The app will not set a calorie target below its minimum daily calorie floor, and the Monthly awards nothing for eating below your target: the calorie rule requires at least 60% of it. If your circumstances change such that your calorie target is no longer appropriate, change your pace in the app. Your locked target for the current month does not change (clause 7.6), but your health comes first.
12.4Welfare. CalCut may remove an entrant from prize contention where their rate of weight loss, their logging or their activity pattern raises a genuine health or safety concern. Where this occurs CalCut will contact the entrant. This clause exists for participant welfare.
13.1Individual results vary. Other than the prize described in section 9, CalCut makes no representation, promise or guarantee as to the results any entrant will achieve.
13.2To the maximum extent permitted by law, CalCut excludes all liability for any loss, injury, damage or expense arising from participation in the Monthly or from any prize.
13.3Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law, or under the consumer protection law of the country in which you live, that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
13.4CalCut is not liable for technical failures, data loss, or any interruption to the app, Apple Health, the App Store or any third-party platform, except that where a fault in the CalCut app itself prevents a day from being scored, CalCut will score that day from the evidence available and in the entrant's favour.
14.1Personal information collected in connection with the Monthly is handled in accordance with the CalCut Privacy Policy at https://calcut.com.au/privacy.html, which has a section on the Monthly.
14.2Information collected for the Monthly — your display name, declared country and storefront country, age confirmation, entry date, locked targets, daily rule data and scores, subscription status, and (for a winner) payment details — is used to run the Monthly, to determine and pay the prize, and to prevent fraud.
14.3A winner's payment details are collected by email, used only to pay the prize, and deleted within 90 days of payment unless a dispute is open. CalCut keeps a record of each month's entries, scores, review and payment for three years.
14.4CalCut does not sell or share entrants' information with any third party for that party's own purposes.
15.1Each Competition Month is a separate promotion. CalCut may change these Terms, the points in section 8, the eligible countries or the prize for future months. A change is announced in the app and at the address in clause 1.4 before the first day of the first month it applies to. A month that has already started runs to its Close on the Terms in force on its first day.
15.2CalCut may end the Monthly for future months at any time by announcing it in the same way. Any month that has started is completed and its prize paid.
15.3The prize for a month that has started is not reduced or withdrawn for any reason within CalCut's control.
15.4CalCut may suspend or cancel a month only where required to do so by law or by a direction of a regulator, or where circumstances beyond its reasonable control make it impossible to score the month fairly. Where that happens CalCut will announce it in the app and explain why.
16.1The Monthly is conducted for the purpose of promoting CalCut and primarily benefits CalCut.
16.2These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and entrants submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State. If you live outside Australia, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protection law of the country in which you live, and nothing in this clause takes it away.
16.3If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
16.4CalCut's decisions on matters covered by these Terms are made reasonably and in good faith. If you believe a decision is wrong, write to support@calcut.com.au within 14 days and CalCut will review it and reply in writing.
